Racine advises SUEZ on its acquisition of a stake in ‘The Future is Neutral’, a subsidiary of Renault Group dedicated to vehicle recycling and the circular economy

Paris, 14 October 2024 – Racine has advised SUEZ, as part of its strategic partnership with the Renault Group, on the acquisition of a 20% stake in The Future is Neutral, a subsidiary of the carmaker specialising in the recycling of end-of-life vehicles. This investment, worth around €140 million, is an important step towards the creation of a closed loop for car recycling in Europe, an ambitious project that responds to the growing challenges of sustainable resource management and industrial sovereignty.

SUEZ is a major player in the recycling sector and a long-standing partner of the Renault Group.

In this partnership, Renault Group is contributing its expertise in vehicle lifecycle management and its industrial infrastructure, in particular with the Refactory in Flins, the first European plant dedicated to the circular economy in the automotive sector. SUEZ, for its part, is strengthening the project thanks to its skills in waste management and recycling, and is contributing its know-how and differentiating technologies in sorting, shredding and separating materials.

Racine is advising the SUEZ group with a team comprising Mélanie Coiraton (partner), Elena Pintea-Pushkin (counsel) and Joséphine Combret (associate) on corporate aspects, Bastien Thomas (partner), Estelle Leclerc (counsel) and François Aubin (associate) on competition, Sophie Pasquesoone (partner) on commercial contracts and Fabrice Rymarz (partner), Quentin Cournot (counsel) and Romain Taugourdeau (associate) on tax, Sylvain Bergès (partner) on environmental aspects and Guillaume Thuleau (partner) on employment law aspects.
